The Red Kite is one of the rarest and most majestic birds of prey in Britain. The birds nest in the upland valleys and are spotted soaring over steep-sided valleys, moors and mountains. Graceful in flight, the red kite can be identified by its distinctive long, forked, chestnut tail and lightweight body supported from broad shapely wings. Llanwrtyd Wells has its own Red Kite Centre, located within the Tourist Informaion Centre. You may also learn more about the Red Kite by visiting the Gigrin Farm Web site. For knitted hats, cushion covers and other items carrying the image of the Red Kite, visit Olwen Crafts.
