All tickets can be purchased online, on the train and from Llandrindod Station Ticket Office, Station Crescent, Llandrindod Wells, Powys, LD1 5BE. Also Llanelli Station Ticket Office (mornings only), Swansea Station and Shrewsbury Station. TfW mobile tickets can be sent straight to your Android or Apple phone. You just need to download the TfW app from the App Store or Google Play and select ‘m-ticket’ or ‘mobile ticket’ as your delivery option.

Coronavirus Service Update January 2022: Emergency timetable and rail replacement bus service for some journeys. Please check your journey before you travel as services can be subject to change. Face coverings MUST be worn at all times unless exempt. Please follow the guidance which you can find here.

SPECIAL OFFERS AND RAIL CARDS
HEART OF WALES RAILCARD
The railcard is valid for journeys on Heart of Wales Line services between Swansea, Llanelli and Shrewsbury via Llandrindod Wells.

It’s available to residents aged 16 or over in specific postcodes along the route of the Heart of Wales Line. The railcard costs £10.00 and is valid for one year. The card holder is entitled to 34% discount on local rail travel. Up to two accompanied children can travel with the card holder at a cost of £2.00 per child. There is no minimum fare.

Railcards can be purchased from the ticket offices at Swansea, Llanelli and Shrewsbury. 

HEART OF WALES LINE ONE DAY and TWO DAY RANGER TICKETS
The Heart of Wales Circular Day Ranger offers you a circular one-day tour with unlimited travel in either direction on the Heart of Wales Line.

The Heart of Wales Circular Two Day Ranger offers you a circular two day tour with unlimited travel in either direction. These tickets can be bought from any railway station ticket office or on board the train.

The Two Day Ranger tickets are especially well suited to walkers, using the Heart of Wales Line to access different sections of the route but is not restricted to walkers alone.

CONCESSIONS ON THE HEART OF WALES LINE

All holders of Welsh bus passes can travel free between October 1st and March 31st along the Heart of Wales Line between Swansea and Shrewsbury. Stations along the Heart of Wales Line are looked after by local station adopters who plant and look after station gardens and planters on the platforms. All stations, no matter how small, have lighting and many have free parking.

Dogs are allowed on the trains as long as they are kept under control and all trains have some space for bikes.

FUTURE IMPROVEMENTS

We are delighted to say that the current service along the Heart of Wales Line is being improved under the new Wales and Border franchise.

Weekdays - by 2023 there will be 5 trains running along the length of the line in each direction, plus a short working between Llandrindod and Shrewsbury, and a short working between Llandovery and Swansea.

Saturdays - by 2023 there will be 5 trains running along the length of the line in each direction, plus a short working between Llandrindod and Shrewsbury, and a short working between Llandovery and Swansea.

Sundays - by 2023 there will be 2 trains per day along the length of the line in each direction, plus a short working between Llandrindod and Shrewsbury, and a short working between Llandovery and Swansea.

Late Evening Train - By 2023 there will be a late evening train from Cardiff to Llandovery and from Crewe to Llandrindod including Sundays.

Regarding the future services, in all cases length of the line means between Swansea and Shrewsbury.There will be additional short workings which are journeys that extend along the Heart of Wales Line from the North as far as Llandrindod and from the South as far as Llandovery. Some short workings will extend to Crewe and another to Cardiff.

There will also be much improved seating capacity with newly refurbished trains from 2022. We will keep you posted on progress.
